History Department
The study of history is important since it helps us to understand people and society. The goals of studying history are to make the students analyse and demonstrate knowledge of the history of different regions of the world, participate in debates and offer forums of verbal historical discussions, acquire and demonstrate skills in critical analysis of primary and secondary historical sources and able to complete a major research paper on an original topic. Objectives are to evaluate the historical importance of the past, appraise the historical significance of India in the global arena and assess the historical importance of our culture and heritage. The Undergraduate Department of History was started in 1948. Then this department was upgraded with Post Graduate Course. M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes were also introduced. Many students and research scholars have been awarded with Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees. National and State Level Conferences and Seminars were conducted. Museum was founded at our department in 1993. It is the pillar of our department. Staff members have been rendering yeomen service for development of our students. Most of the Staff members possess M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees. UGC – Minor and Major projects were undertaken and successfully completed by our staff. They have presented research papers on various topics at various History Congresses, and National and International Seminars conducted by our department and other colleges also. Number of out gone students cleared SET and TET Examinations. They have been placed as Assistant Professors and Teachers in both government and private institutions. Some others got recruited in different companies also.
