Introduction

    Department of Tourism & Travel Management (TTM) was established in the year 2004 under the realm of Department of History to produce quality human resource, to cater the ever increasing demand in tourism, travel and allied sector. At initial stage, the Under-graduate programme was offered as a self-financing course and, in 2007, the course was converted into full-fledged government aided programme for advanced learning in tourism and allied disciplines with the seed grant from Directorate of Collegiate Education, Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. During 2013, Department has been upgraded as Post-graduate department by offering Master of Tourism Administration (MTA), a two year management programme spreading over four semesters with focus on tourism, travel, hospitality and allied sectors. The nomenclature of Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) programme has been changed to Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) in the year 2016. The department has further received approval from the Director of Collegiate Education to establish research programmesM.Phil and Ph.D (Part time & Full time) to cater to the need of researchers and academicians.

    The department is famous in the campus for professionalism and has set an example to in terms of conducting, organizing and managing events successfully. The department has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Travel Agents’ Association of Coimbatore (TAAC) for students’ training and placements. Department is also an active partner of Department of Tourism – Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore International Airport and Tamil Nadu Travel Mart Society. It is also one of the few academic institutions in the state to offer Under-graduate to research programme in the field of tourism & travel.
